Once mighty river

The water had to flow
Where man wanted
Exactly how he wanted
Having lost its freedom
It lies like an animal
A wounded one
In the corner of the den!
Oh! Will it lie forever?
Can it be contained,
In a smaller space
Of cement and mortar
The once mighty river?
It will rise again
Just like the sun at dawn
At an unknown time
In an unannounced day
Maybe on a casual date,
It will throw its mighty waves!
And send crashing
The carefully built houses,
And carry away everything
That stands in its once boundary.
What will man do then?
Issue a flood warning??

Monsoon failure

The North east monsoon failed again!
Three years in a row it failed
Nobody seemed to care for the rains.
The entire town was geared up,
For the festive season of rain.
The celebrations began without rain;
The skies rained out crackers,
Accompanied by the deafening sound!
Everyone was busy cause it was festival.
Lamps were lit in the place of lightning
Drums sounded in the stead of thunder;
It was the festival season of the city!
But lo! The poor farmer sat at the corner
With his head hung low and empty.
He had waited for monsoon for months.
The sky had turned into a plate of brass,
And the fertile land became barren.
Meteorologists spoke about el Nino,
Something the illiterate never knew of!
Three years in a row, debts mounted up.
The unknown enemy of fear gripped him,
The next day, lenders would come!
The lender promised his daughter
A golden yellow retriever doe eyed!
With the very money of the farmer.
The daughter slept with doggy dreams.
The few hundreds would have never mattered,
But the lender was tightfisted;
The farmer could not sleep in his roofless hut,
The lender snored on his golden rupee notes.
The next morning, the lender's daughter
Refused to eat without the retriever;
The orphaned farmer's son cried bitterly
Over the lifeless body of his father!

A nation in wilderness

Behold, a nation in wilderness
A nation without a territory
A nation without a king
Still they move forward
Unaware of the destination
Neither of the direction
At a steady and fact pace
Still they move forward

Without sow or harvest
Food rains from above
The water flows in desert
Gushing from the stony rocks
The mighty cloud leads them
Fire protects them all night
Oh! Who are they?
These mighty people in desert?

They are the Lord's people
Their king the Lord God.

At the cross

The love at the cross,
That made the sinner
Turn back with tears;
In spite of the nails
That pierced through,
Love pierced his heart.
Hanging on the cross
The thieving sinner cried
In spite of the pain,
''Lord, remember me!''

Yesterday

Yesterday lies forgotten
Like a long lost old love;
In the bosom of the past
Whom history never cared
To even write on stone.
The day lost yesterday,
Glorious for so many
Dreadful for the rest!
Will the loss of yesterday
Be ever again counted?
The glorious yesterday
With its usual inequality,
Forgotten by the human race.
Oh! There I stand with wonder
Wishing for the lost yesterday!

Life

To travel on the same boat
Yet have not spoken a word
In an utter state of inactivity
But only the wind moving

The noises made by the wind
Did send shivers down the spine
Yet they remained in silence
Afraid to even stir or moan

Desire was overflowing within
At the thought of jeopardy
The warning bell still ringing
The chimes from an old Church

The unknown perils of stirring
Seemed more worse than
The winds howling around
Or the anonymous time

What was left was a pity boat
And a pair of wooden oars
Hundreds of unknown eyes
Casting a spellbound look

So the prey remained in the boat
With the fears of danger
Oh! Only if they had known
They could conquer even the world!

Have a nice day:-)

Reminiscing

I met her on a beautiful day,
On the beginning of Autumn;
When the yellow leaves fall
And the wind gushes by,
To pick up the dry leaves
And patch up broken hearts.
With her jet black hair
And lovely icy blue eyes
Great was the one look,
That she did cast on me;
That one ever lasting look
Not fading till this day.

The little Joys

The sweet pain felt
After holding her for long
Just because her tiny feet
Hurts her to stand or walk.

Running around the house
Pretending she is faster
Than me, to see her smile
To hear her say ''I win''!

Letting her sleep peacefully
Not to let anyone disturb
Playing her all silly tricks
To see her fill with wonder.

Patiently I wait and let her
Play with my hair
And smile as she climbs
On my shoulders.

Above all it is the little joy
Of having a tiny niece
That makes you melt
And crumble with love.

And the sorrow that fills
To know that very soon
Holidays would be over
Back to the weary office.

Change desired

To be lonely and forlorn
In such a huge planet
Bubbling with people
But still none to care

Searching for a soul
That would always care
Never back off nor leave
What the time maybe

Would be desperate like
Searching for blue seas
In the wide stretched
Unending n' forever sky

Why do people forsake,
Forget, and move on?
Act like total strangers
Never known to the other?

With the stare on the face
That says ''I don't see
Someone standing infront''
Gazing into the empty space

Is it sin to say to the other
Words of true apology?
Embracing each other
As fellow human beings

Oh! How good it will be
If people live in peace
Compassion and love
Harmony and joy will rule...

Land of Eden

The beautiful land of Eden
Where the love flows as river
Love adorns it with its fruits
The land of ultimate perfection
Nothing is found to lack there
Innocence rules the land
What would ever go wrong
In the very place of wonder
Where happiness leaps about
But right there in the middle
A blemish in the garden
Flaw in middle of flawlessness
Stands a tree filled with lust
Coated with a lustre of curiosity
Inviting harm, danger and curse
Stands the evil in disguise
The tree of good and evil

The mother

The woman in the wilderness,
Walked miles in the sand;
With her only begotten son
Whom she loved so dearly!

She would trade the world
For her most beloved son;
But lo! She had nothing left
In the most wretched world.

The very people of her own
Stranded them in the desert,
Neither clan nor family nor any
Wanted them on the face of earth.

Her tears were dried off,
The sun scorched from above;
She had not the strength to walk
Her body so frail and feeble.

Even the last drop of water
She gave for her son to drink;
She knew very well for sure
There was not a soul to care!

Her son started to nag her
For the water she did not have;
She felt her heart melt for him
But she had nothing to give.

Her son's desperate cry
Drove her faint mind crazy
She screamed like a mad man
But would that bring water?

She hugged her son and wept
The weep devoid of tears;
Thirst was killing them both
Still her son asked for water.

She remembered the days
That were long gone by,
When she bathed her son
With milk and oil and honey.

As she hugged her boy
He fell on the floor of earth
Thirst was killing her son!
There is nothing more worse!!

She watched him bewildered
The desperation of a mother,
To watch her only beloved son
Die for the want of a drop of water!

She rushed away from him
Fell on the ground prostate
''Oh Lord! Just water!'' She cried
She could not watch him die.

Her cries reached upto heaven,
Her love moved the Almighty!!
He opened the face of the earth
And made a water sprout to spring;

Opened her eyes to see the sprout
She joyously made her son drink
She felt the joy of rebirth
She knew now her son would live!!!

This poem is based on the true life story of the Egyptian slave Hagar who was sent into the wilderness with her son by her mistress...

The cat

It was the old Chinese cat
It was not that it was old
Nor that cat from China
But it was a Chinese's cat

The cat was awfully proud
Of its wonderful fur coat
It always knew very well
Of its awesome beauty

It never knew modesty
Or else it would be saint
It walked as if the world
Was conquered by itself

But now it had an envy
A jealously in the brain
It was because of Tom
The ugliest street cat

That awed a Korean cat
On the other side of hill
Now the old Chinese cat
Was streaming with envy

It would trade the world
Just to get to the other side
Oh! Such a poor cat it was
Little did it know about Tom!

The cat set out packed full
With food to last till the end
With the best designer wear
To the other side of the hill

Not knowing the other side
Was the dog side of the world
It took the big road journey
Crossing the green corn fields

Passing over the little streams
And the blue and red streets
It passed over the millstone
And even the widow's cottage

At last it reached the other side
It was the dog-meeting day
And so all the dogs were gone
The cat went till the city square

The very place of the meeting!
Shocked it was to see the dogs
Chased by every mutt and cur
It ran for its life so dear

Never again did the cat envy
Any other creature alive
For its wonderful beauty
That exceeded it's own

The pinnacle

When you see beyond the blue,
Your dreams will be still higher;
No horizon shall ever set a limit
Fate will refuse to make a blame
Steadily firmed onto the mount
Reaching higher with each step
Never ceasing as a swift river
While the world will stand n' stare
I can promise you for sure that
The pinnacle has been reached.

What if

If fishes could fly
If it were a butterfly
Bubbles would be in air
Waters would lay bare.

If fishes has feathers
And all of it's brothers
Would fly into the air
And play there very fair.

If birds could swim
Then waters would hymn
Sky would become water
If so, will it even matter?

If I could be happy
We would be chappy
And chatter without pause
There would be no gnaws.

Love would be in air
As happy as a mare
Each day would smile
In its veru own isle.

The nightmare

Many have dreams to pursuit
But I have a dream of my own
'Twas not ambition nor goal
But a plain, mere vague dream
Like the one at a troubled night
It might have a meaning of its own
Which surpassed my understanding
Each day I sit all alone by myself
Trying to make out what it was
I relate it with all that I know
But efforts end only in vain
All my experience fail terribly
My dream became my mare
I wish I knew myself better
Maybe one day I'll for sure
Discover my dream to make it true

The scar

The mark that you left long ago
Remains there unseen, concealed
But reminding always the pain
Even in my deepest sweet slumber

It would never heal nor go away
But be there always, lest I forget
What it was in the years past
When time did forget to repay

It pricks me each time I shine
Everytime I enjoy, have fun around
The dark mysterious days of past
Overshadows the upcoming future

By my side

When I cry all alone
None stands by my side;
When the roofs fall in
Lord, stand by my side.

When I stagger the way
Burdens are too heavy;
When my shoulders fail
Lord, stand by my side.

When I soar on the sky
My wings terribly break;
When I slide steep down
Lord, stand by my side.

What would life be?

What would life be like?
When the worst nightmare
Comes very true in life
Shivering down to the spine

What would life be like?
When the very air envelope
Turns into deadly arrows
Making it difficult to inhale

What would life be like?
When the dear mother earth
Shakes terribly to take step
Turning against the wave

What would life be like?
When everyone forgot you
Fames fade into charred ash
Stirring hope to the bottom

Remember me

When words fail me
When I'm left alone
Forsaken and forlorn
None remembers me
My ways are blocked
All are blind to me
Listen to my prayer
My gentle Saviour

When all hate me
And tears are my food
Nothing ever happens
As my heart desired
Glory turns into ashes
At the end of my path
Remember my cry
My gentle Saviour

Restore

Restore in my weakness
When my mortal body
Could carry on no more
And my situation worsens

Have mercy on my soul
When I am left alone
With none to care me
And my situation worsens

Never ever leave me
When I slide back
Remember You no more
And my situation worsens
