Envy or Love?

          The love between two friends is sure to bring about a lot of green-eyed people. Just as a mango attracts flies, love attracts a lot of envy. Love between two people means envy of others. The beauty of the friendship lies in overcoming it through love. But envy being stronger, if let, will ruin lives for sure. The following story is about how envy destroyed a beautiful friendship.

           One day, the Angels had an argument, as to which was the greatest force on the face of the earth. After debating for a long time, they came to a conclusion that love was the strongest force that wipes away every barrier and triumphs at last. The gathered examples from all around the world. From the classic examples to the love found in every house and every street. The love of the family and friends came streaming in. They were very happy in finding the greatest treasure ever.
          Just then, an elderly Angel let out a scornful laugh and said that envy was the greatest force on earth. Everyone was shocked. ''Very well'' said the Angel ''you don't seem to agree with me. I will let you to choose whom so ever you want, I will show how envy can destroy them''. And so, it was agreed.
         Two wonderful friends were chosen. They both were so close to each other right from childhood. They never failed to leave each other's side, even in times of adversity. They both went to the same school, helped each other in studies and went to the same college and they just loved each other to the extent that it invited the envy of the angels.
        Kafis and Yuher were completely different from each in each and every aspect. Kafis was a beautiful blonde, who cared about everything right from how she looked and to what everyone thought about her. She was someone who lived in the future. She looked like a model who just stepped out from a fancy magazine. She nutured a lifelong dream of becoming the commissioner of her native place. She believed in women empowerment and as life went by, she got caught up in the messes of life. Now, all that she cared was luxury and beauty. She spent most of her time partying.
        But Yuher was completely different from Kafis. She believed in fate and let go of life. She believed that everything would happen in the right time. Unlike Kafis, she lived in the present. The simple present. She had a half Indian ancestry. She had jet black hair and looked like an Oriental princess. Still, she never cared about her looks. But she always strived hard for what she wanted. The difference never mattered until fate played with their friendship.
         Yuher was offered a position as the commissioner of the city. Yuher worked hard for years for the position. And atlast she attained the most respectable position in the society. It was when, fate played its role carefully.
          Kafis came to know about the fortune Yuher attained. But little did she know how had Yuher worked for it. Yuher invited Kafis to take part in the celebration. But Kafis fought like a mad one. She turned down the invitation, claiming that Yuher stole her life and her future. There was no way in which Kafis could be calmed. To make things worse, people just kept on Yuher. Kafis was beyond consolation. She was possessed with envy. Can envy be cured?

            Atlast the angels succeeded in proving envy as the strongest force.

            ''ENVY IS THE MUDDY REFLECTION OF LOVE.''

             Remember to reflect love in clear water. So that, love will be on both sides.

Gift

It is the happiness that we exercise, keeps us going. Helping us to reach the destination that we desire. The travel, however depends on the goal, onto which we fix our eyes. Higher the goal, more bumpier the journey.

It is our happiness that keeps us fit. The joy of little things. The delight in the things we love. Above all, our loved ones themselves.

Such a wonderful friend, whose friendship I treasure so much gifted this almost 13 years ago. Just as it says so, she has been a good link in my chain of life. Encouraging when I fall and happy when I shine. Such a wonderful friend in life. Our friendship will for sure, continue to remain green in the years to come.. :-)

The mother

The woman in the wilderness,
Walked miles in the sand;
With her only begotten son
Whom she loved so dearly!

She would trade the world
For her most beloved son;
But lo! She had nothing left
In the most wretched world.

The very people of her own
Stranded them in the desert,
Neither clan nor family nor any
Wanted them on the face of earth.

Her tears were dried off,
The sun scorched from above;
She had not the strength to walk
Her body so frail and feeble.

Even the last drop of water
She gave for her son to drink;
She knew very well for sure
There was not a soul to care!

Her son started to nag her
For the water she did not have;
She felt her heart melt for him
But she had nothing to give.

Her son's desperate cry
Drove her faint mind crazy
She screamed like a mad man
But would that bring water?

She hugged her son and wept
The weep devoid of tears;
Thirst was killing them both
Still her son asked for water.

She remembered the days
That were long gone by,
When she bathed her son
With milk and oil and honey.

As she hugged her boy
He fell on the floor of earth
Thirst was killing her son!
There is nothing more worse!!

She watched him bewildered
The desperation of a mother,
To watch her only beloved son
Die for the want of a drop of water!

She rushed away from him
Fell on the ground prostate
''Oh Lord! Just water!'' She cried
She could not watch him die.

Her cries reached upto heaven,
Her love moved the Almighty!!
He opened the face of the earth
And made a water sprout to spring;

Opened her eyes to see the sprout
She joyously made her son drink
She felt the joy of rebirth
She knew now her son would live!!!

This poem is based on the true life story of the Egyptian slave Hagar who was sent into the wilderness with her son by her mistress...
